Enroll in RSDFlex MS (6-8)

Redmond School District uses the nationally recognized Pearson Connexus learning platform paired with RSD certified teachers as the online option for students in grades 6-8. This option is designed for students and families who feel an online learning experience would best fit their students’ needs.  With in-person time during the week, students can receive one on one help and instruction from the Flex advisor teachers. Please review our middle school program and what we have to offer.

RSDFlex is an online learning program that utilizes the nationally recognized Pearson Online Learning platform, with courses taught by Redmond School District teachers.

DUAL ENROLLMENT – Students enrolled in RSDFlex are dual-enrolled in both their boundary (home) school and the RSDFlex program. This model allows students to remain connected to their boundary school community by participating in select in-person opportunities such as; choir, band or PE and athletics, while completing the majority of their coursework online.

IN-PERSON SUPPORT – To ensure students receive consistent support, RSDFlex offers daily in-person assistance at the RSDFlex Learning Center for up to two hours each school day. During this time, students can access academic help, build connections with staff, and stay on track with their coursework.

SPECIAL EDUCATION – RSDFlex also provides dedicated Special Education services through a licensed Special Education teacher, ensuring that students receive the individualized support they need to be successful.

When thinking about how your student’s schedule will look, review the information below. Students will have 3 trimesters throughout the year at RSDFlex. They must be in at least 4 online classes to be in the program.

MS trimesters

Middle School Schedules

RSDFlex middle school students take four classes per trimester due to the rigorous nature of the Pearson online courses, whereas students attending in-person at the building take six classes per trimester. Please see the RSDFlex example schedules below.

Considerations for Success at RSDFlex

  • Self Motivation – Online learning requires strong self-motivation because students must manage their own time, stay focused, and keep up with coursework independently.
  • Learning Coach – Students are far more likely to thrive when they have a dedicated learning coach at home. A committed adult providing consistent guidance, accountability, and encouragement can make a meaningful difference in a student’s progress.
  • Curriculum –  RSDFlex’s online curriculum aligns with the same state standards as the in-person curriculum offered at school buildings. However, the order in which concepts are taught may differ and could lead to gaps in learning.
  • Consistency –  To minimize disruption and support consistent academic progress, students are encouraged to remain enrolled in one school or program for the entire school year.
