Elementary Clubs

RSDFlex Elementary offers in person clubs such as Chess Club, Robotics and Battle of the Books.

LegoRobotics

Lego Robotics begins in late winter and is designed for our K–2 graders. The group meets about once a week at the Flex Center, where our elementary teachers guide students as they build Lego robots together. Students program their robots to make noises, move, and complete fun challenges while learning basic engineering and teamwork skills.

VEXRobotics

VEX Robotics is offered for students in 3rd through 5th grade. The program typically begins after Christmas break, and students meet with our elementary teachers twice a week. During this time, students work together to build and drive a Hero Robot that helps run a village complete with homes, water collection systems, and crops. Students also have the opportunity to showcase their skills at our district robotics competition.

Chess Club

Chess Club is offered in the fall for students in 3rd through 5th grade. During the club, students come together to learn the basics of chess, practice strategies, and play games with one another. At the end of the session, students participate in a friendly tournament to see who will be crowned the club champion.

Battle of the Books

Battle of the Books is offered for students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade. Students read a selection of books chosen for all participating schools. They then work together to answer questions about the books and compete in a fun quiz-style competition. This program encourages reading, teamwork, and a love of literature while giving students the chance to represent their school.
